Jingle Bells, Batman Smells

(I changed the look for the holiday season. Go Christmas!)

Much has changed since the last time I wrote. I got a new laptop. Not by choice, but because some poo head stole mine out of my apartment. I hope you like it whoever you are, my blog was bookmarked so I'm sure that you are checking in, happy holidays to you.

What is happening? I just watched the highlights of Brandon Roy's 52 point performance last night. Wow. I'm speechless. But really, are any of us surprised? The only thing that may be surprising to Husky fans is that Mike Jensen is not doing the same thing in the NBA right now. We were certain that he was the real NBA prospect on that Husky team, either him or the black hole (referring to the fact that he never passed, not his skin color) Jamal Williams. Now look at Roy, is there any one in the NBA playing better? Maybe Lebron, maybe Earl Watson, maybe Howard Eisley, but other than those three? Question: has there ever been a better player than Detlef Schrempf? Answer: maybe, Brandon Roy makes it interesting to think about.

I would be remiss if I did not give props to my good friend Bob for calling out Cougar Football coach Paul Wulff for winning the Mr. Vogel look alike contest. I was thinking the same thing. Even though Wulff has some terrible days of football ahead of him, he does have that going for him. At least when he loses his job, he can come over to the real world and have automatic street cred. By the way, if you do not know who Mr. Vogel is, why are you reading this blog?

What else, the weather has been crazy around these parts, the Northwest. Pretty much anything that was scheduled in my life this week has been canceled. So I have played a little Halo with mis amigos. I hate that game right now. I dislike most things that I'm bad at, as most of us are inclined to do, Halo is one of them right now. It is no longer a game for phonies like me. Oh to be a real gamer.

Rosie O'Donnell has her own show. I guess we are in a depression.

How about Illinois politics? Governor whats his name was trying to sell the Senate seat left behind by Obama. I thought Washington state politics was bad, yikes. Not only is this guy breaking the law, but he had no idea that he could have sold that thing on Craigslist in no time. At least they are cleaning out all the political corruption from Illinois. Ya, I know what you are thinking, our future President is from Illinois. But I'm sure that he was not a part of all that stuff, I mean, there is nothing to point that would make you think he has any problem keeping distance from those type of people. Deep breath. Pause. Lets move on.

I just want to say to Khalif Barnes, ex Husky offensive tackle and current left tackle for the Jaguars, keep your head up. Dwight Freeney is a man child. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the highlights from the Colts/Jaguars game last night. That's a tough way to end a game. Khalif, at least you are not still playing at UW. Losing to the Colts is a little easier to swallow than losing to the Cougs.

Well, enjoy the weather, don't forget to call your local representative to see if you can get a bailout for Christmas shoping this year. Or should I say Chrismahanquanzicuh, it is always better to be PC.

Wrestlemania

I have just recently began a new job in the local school district working in Special Ed. It has been a great learning experience, to say the least. The school that I work at is with the more severely disabled students, many with major behavioral issues. Yesterday I got the chance to work with a student that I had not worked with before. I had been introduced to him, last week in PE when he decided to act up and in the process of moving him to the other side of the gym he gave me some teeth marks in my forearm, but all is well. Yesterday he decided on two separate occasions that he was going to run away from us who were working with him. Although I was not the one working specifically one on one with him, I was more back-up if you will, being the young one I had the task of catching him; one time while he was running full speed down the hallway and one time outside while we were attempting to take him to the swings. This kid does have some speed, but I haven't slipped far enough to let him outrun me, no way. After both times that I caught him we squared off in an relatively even wrestling match, while I have the weight and strength, he has a great equalizer, his teeth. Although gratuitous amounts of energy was expounded, everybody was soon safe and under control. Needless to say, my job is interesting and exiting. While most days are nothing like this, my days at school are truly a box of chocolates, but as long as I'm not working with a student with the speed of Forrest Gump, I'm going to be OK.

The Party's Over

What is this world coming too? As in world, of course as a narrow minded American struck by the Omphalos Syndrome, (Omphalos=naval in Greek, naval=center, US center of the world) I mean the United States of America. How did we get to this point? We are staring the worst economic crisis since the 1930's right in the face and our wonderful Presedential candidates have nothing to say about it. How can you debate for two hours and not mention the fact that millions of hard working Americans are getting screwed by greed at Wall Street and pure ignorance in the Capitol? Neither of the spineless candidates will stand for the American people and demand that someone pays for this. I understand guys, this is not the time to be pointing fingers and you are partly right, that time was years ago when this whole mess began to materialize. When the greedy began gambling with tax payer money. When in 1999 the Clinton Administration decided to repeal the Glass-Steagall Act that was passed in 1933 to put a stop to the coupling of investment banking and lending, an Act that was created to make sure the Depression never happened again. Have we gotten a little over confident, did we think we were invincible? It seems that some of us did and now someone needs to be held accountable. Where were the politicians that were voted in to fight for you and me when all of this was happening? Do not tell me that they didn't know.

It pains me to say this, but at this time in this great countries history, the American political system is a joke. I never thought the wonderful system that our founding fathers labored to create could be tarnished the way it has. How long can we survive in this two party system? I do not doubt the logic and the positive aspects of it. I do not doubt the history of it. But our founding fathers warned us about this, James Madison warned us about rule by factions in the Federalist papers. The Constitution says nothing about the existance of parties. Our greatest Presidents of all time warned us about division. In his Farewell Address George Washington implored those who came after him to fight for the unity of America. It was Abraham Lincoln that said, a house divided can not stand, as he fought to keep America in tact. I'm afraid that we have become more divided than ever. Many of our politicians are merely puppets on strings, doing what ever is good for the party whether it be Democrat or Republican, not what is good for America. I'm not calling for a single party or representative party system or any overhaul of the American system. I just want a leader who is willing to stand up for the American people and quite frankly neither of these candidates have shown that they are willing to do that.

The election is coming quickly and it seems that we may have to keep getting worse before we get better. If the final results resemble the polls today we may be in trouble. Hello more government. Hello more spending. You guys let us get here, good luck getting us out.

Nothing but the Truth

It is dawning on me that this world that we live in is afraid of something. The truth. Yes Truth can be offensive, it can hurt feelings, it can convict, it can make make one uncomfortable, it can be humbling, but it never the less is the truth. It was Winston Churchill that said, The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is. I'm sure your philosophical self is sitting there asking the age old question, is there really such thing as truth and if there is how do we find it? This is especially an appropriate question in the world we live in today. Many in this world would have you believe that truth is completely subjective or truth is what "you" want it to be. We live in the generation of "me," let me be, let me do what I want, don't bother me, that is offensive to me, you can't make me, etc. In this current generation the truth is being pushed away. The search for the truth is becoming an ignorant pursuit. Those who claim to know it or have it are labeled as ignorant and narrow minded. Those who teach it or proclaim it are bias and self righteous. No longer is there right and wrong, but only perspective, opinion, and an open mind. Our imaginations are now not only allowed to run wild, but come to life with no barriers of reality. Someone once said, What you perceive, your observations, feelings, interpretations, are all your truth. Your truth is important. Yet it is not The Truth.” In the world we live in today, this quote ends after important. We are afraid to tell someone that they are wrong. Instead we allow them to live there lives, blinded by the importance of "their" truth.

There is hope. The truth still lives. It is up to all of us who know it to teach and proclaim it. It is the ultimate truth, the truth of Jesus Christ our Savior. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh to the father but by me. In this world, Jesus is the truth that we can not compromise. We must confront the subjective truths of this world, we must tell those who are blinded by this generation that there is one truth that will forever remain. Yes this truth will offend and it will convict, but belief in it will ultimately set you free. The truth of Jesus Christ is not narrow minded, it is not ignorant, it is not self righteous, it is a message of love, hope, and everlasting life in a dying world. It is a message of a risen Savior who promises to return. Come to know this truth, because apart from it, this world has nothing to offer.

Birthday Parties: A thing of the past

As the wonderful month of October approaches, so to does numerous birthdays of many of my close amigos, my family members, and of course my own as well. Thinking about the proximity of so many wonderful days of birth brought back many memories. Slumber parties with sleeping bags, video games, ninja turtles, Legos, pizza, the Skate Deck, cherry cheesecake, cards that nobody read, and of course tons of presents. These parties were great, but are definitely a thing of the past. Once you get out of high school, nobody really has birthday parties anymore. Have we forgotten how to party? Are we to old to celebrate? I think not. I'm not asking for a lego set or a plastic foot soldier, although if you got me one I would accept it, I'm just suggesting that we take advantage of our birthdays, celebrate some how. You never know how many more birthdays will come your way. Lets not let birthday parties be a thing of the past. Get together with some friends or family and have a good time.

In the lab with a pen and a pad

I am posting a little note that I wrote on May 1st of this year while I sat in my Political Science class. I did not have a blog then so I had to resort to caveman resources like pen and paper. I do not mean to offend anybody, at least not specifically, but to some this may seem a bit aggressive. I guess I was always told to be aggressive.

Dear Diary, (I don't technically have a diary)

What has motivated me to write this? Oddly enough it happens to be the brutal class that I am sitting through, a class filled with many well educated, but very ignorant academics. With out fail, every year, every quarter, almost everyday (depending on if I go to class) I'm slapped in the face by the unfortunate aroma of blind liberalism. I can't run form it, I can't hide from it, but nor should I. When will these socialists stop thinking that our great country, America, is the enemy? Open your eyes and read some history. While the USA is by no means perfect, it is refreshingly and consistently a beacon of light in a dark world. When will we stop worrying about the opinions of insignificant countries on our policy? Guess what foreigners? This country that you all envy, acts in its own interest. I know, the audacity right? How selfish can those Americans be? Can't they quit pushing people around, sit down and have tea and crumpets with their enemies? Sorry, the answer is usually no. The idea that diplomacy is always the answer is about as crazy as the Mormon religion. You know why? Because countries such as Russia, Iran, China and North Korea, wait for it...they act in their own interest too! I know you're thinking, but they haven't seem Barrack Obama, and you're right. Lord willing, they never will. He will not be able to beat them into submission with charisma and verbal eloquence. Look how that worked for Great Britain in WWII. Talk to Hitler, give in, then do it all over again until German bombs are crashing down on the London Bridge. Bye Bye England as a world power. How many had to die in the name of diplomacy? Think about it, soft power can work, but at times hard power is the only option. Thats all for today. Got to go learn about Empires (Hist 245). USA!

Ten reasons why being a Seattle Sports fan sucks ( right now)

I have been a Seattle sports fan for my whole life, I do have the guts to admit that. I'm not one of those fake local fans that grew up here and somehow happens to like, oh I don't know, USC football, North Carolina basketball, the Patriots, the Yankees, you get the picture. These people are delusional if they think they are legitimate, they are front runners and nothing else. For example: Lebron James grew up in Ohio, but his favorite teams when he was young were the Yankees, the Cowboys, and the Chicago Bulls. Wow. Even those in professional sports can have no sports savy. Don't get me wrong, I do have an appreciation for championship caliber teams and programs too, I just would never claim to be a legit diehard fan of any other than my locals.

At times, this can be hard to take. The present status of Seattle sports is nearly at the worst it has ever been since yours truly entered this world. Why? Here are my top ten reasons.

10. Huskies 0-2, Seahawks 0-1, Mariners...does it even matter

9. The Seahawks current recieving core makes the Huskies recievers look like All Americans

8. The Husky football team lost to the Mormons at home for the first time ever.

7. Seahawks WR Nate Burleson is out for the season. Now he is not only extremely overpaid but he is useless.

6. Willie Bloomquist

5. Tyrone Willingham 11-27 at UW

4. The Mariners may be the first team ever to have a payroll over 100 million and lose 100 games

3. We have not won a championship in major sports since the 1991 UW football team and even then we had to share it (the WNBA is not a major sport)

2. The Sonics got poo jacked and turned into an arena football team called the Thunder

1. The only championship caliber team in Seattle is the Storm and we all know that the WNBA games are nothing more than lesbian conventions

In other words, better luck next year.

Will the real China please stand up?

There is no denying that the 2008 Beijing Olympics have been an amazing production. China has done the Olympic games justice. The facilities are state of the art, the games have ran with out distraction, and Chinese history has definitely been on display. But as the world watches the greatest athletes in the world compete for their countries and compete for themselves, who is competing for the Chinese people?

In the United States of America we expect our government to fight for us. The characteristics that keep our country the greatest in the world are freedom, liberty, and the ability to choose, among many others. The American system encourages and rewards individuality, while not always promoting complete equality, we have come to embody it. It is tough to compare the greatest country in the world with any other, but as China has become a supposed global power it is legitimate. China is and has historically, since Mao Zedong's rise to power in 1947, been a Communist regime. The Communist system is one that represents the idea of the common good and does what it must to maintain the existence of the state. In China, the state trumps individuality and freedom is not essential. While Communism is built on the idea of equality it by no means embraces it.

Maybe the real China has stood up. As these Olympics approached the Chinese government continued to crack down on its people, tightening the grip of repression in the interest of the Communist state. Many Chinese were jailed in fear of their desires for individuality, many citizens homes were destroyed to build the giant athletic complexes and throughout the games the government continues to silence its critics through authoritarian control. By no means is the Chinese government fighting for its people. Its people are fighting for their government because they do not have the freedoms, the liberties, or the choice to fight for anything else. The real China is not standing because has it is not allowed.

My Country is better than your Country

There is something about the Olympic Games that brings out the American in me. It really doesn't matter what I'm watching, badminton, volleyball, swimming, and yes even gymnastics. It is about my country beating your country. Yes, I know Visa has come out with these wonderfully made commercials narrated by Morgan Freeman presenting a globally minded motto of "go world," but come on, does anyone really want to see there fellow countrymen lose. The answer is no. I appreciate the effort that all of these athletes put out, the grueling hours that they have spent training dedicating there lives to a dream, but once you dive in to that pool, once you step on to that court, once you grab on to those high bars, may the better man (or woman to be pc) win. Most likely that better man will be an American. USA! USA! USA!

Lesser of Two Evils

As we rapidly approach the November election I'm somewhat dreading having to cast my vote for President. Don't get me wrong, I will vote. I believe that it is my duty as a citizen to go to the ballot box, but it will most likely be with reservations. Being somewhat conservative politically it seems that it would be easy for me to just vote McCain and never look back, but barring a miracle, I will most likely cast my vote and hope that who ever wins will not destroy the great country we have established over the last 232 years. Are these candidates really all we have to offer? Can't the greatest country in the world find two individuals willing to run for President that we can really trust? Nope, instead we are relying on two citizens that so far have not consistently showed the qualities that it takes to lead the free world.

On one side we have an unknown, inexperienced, candidate who is some how mystifying a large cult like following of the American population with ideas of hope, unity and change. Can anyone say Marxist/Socialist? Just listen to him, how he wants to give us something to believe in, how he is going to look out for our welfare and give every American the opportunities to succeed, how he is going to restore our image abroad. Sounds like more government to me. No thanks, we have enough, thanks for stopping by though. He's pretty charismatic, I will give him that, but so to was Hitler, Moussilini, Stalin, get it. Socialism, Facism, Communism, they historically don't work and last time I checked the US has had some pretty good success with the system it is running. I'm just saying, watch out for this guy, I'm not trying to put him in the same category as those three dictators, but he offers striking strategic similarities. History repeats itself. Don't believe me, wait and see.

On the other side we have a candidate who I would really, really like to support, but he is making it hard for me. I'm not sure what he is, is he conservative or is he liberal? I think the honest answer is that he is both. He does offer some solid policies on less spending and tax cuts, which anyone in there right mind would support, but then he refuses to be strong on the border and he is killing me with this emphasis on global warming. Can someone step up and say that we need to stop the illegal immigration into our country, it is getting ridiculous. I thought he might, but no, instead he is to focused on the global warming issue. I'm not here to say that global warming is a hoax, there is some evidence to support it, but I'm not sure that it is the scientific consensus that it is made out to be, in fact I know it isn't. So why are we talking about creating these ridiculous policies of huge government regulation and long term financial investments? Can't we just drill? I'm sure Alaska wouldn't mind, they will get a huge payout and maybe we could lower gas prices. Yeah!

Message to whoever may win: Government, you need to go sit down, you are getting in the way of the wonderful system that we Americans know and love, we don't need your hand in everything, more often than not lately you have screwed it up, so why don't you just go sit down and we will tell you when we really need you.

Thats all I have for now. Sorry about that, I'm just a little excited. Can't wait to see what happens next. It is going to be a doozy. GO AMERICA!

Back from the Disabled List

So it has been a while, a long while, but I'm poised to make a come back. I afraid that this blog thing has become exactly what I hoped it wouldn't, a terribly neglected form of communication. All hope is not lost though. As I finish my first term of summer classes tomorrow and of course begin the next term of classes the next day, I vow to write more, I hope. Here's to a new beginning...cheers.

Anyways, what is going on? The Mariners are sucking, the Sonics are leaving, the Olympics are coming, the weather is warming, the economy is falling, the election is approaching, the earth is melting, the Dark Knight is thriving, the Aquafest is calling, the gas prices are escalating, the Mexicans are immigrating, the Iranians are plotting, the Chinese are growing, the Canadians are admiring, the Brittish are coming, the Polar Bears are dieing, the Hawaiians are surfing, the Cubans are swimming, the Rossi is coming, the Obama is placating, the Osama is hating, the McCain is living, the war is fading, the country is wavering, the people are waiting, the end is nearing...and all in one breath.

Hunt and Peck

Just had surgery yesterday so I'm typing one handed, it is terrible. The operation lasted three hours and as far as we can tell, it went well. Cammie and I spent last weekend on the Oregon Coast and it was perfect. First time we have got away since the honeymoon and it was needed. She works so hard all the time, she deserved that break. I'll tell you all about the trip when I can move my arm. I also decided to take summer school so i should graduate in August. Don't worry Bob you'll get there too. Anyways, i'll be chillin on the couch today trying to get back in the game. Until next time.

Golf, Horseracing, and a Chinese Fire drill

Apparently it is June, you couldn't tell considering we probably had the worst weather of the year this week. That didn't stop golf today, although it definitely didn't help my game. I hadn't picked up a golf club since September and it was obvious. Although I did put it together for a couple holes I ended up shooting a 105. I think I'm going to play on Tuesday with my friend Kyle again, but this time we are playing at some course that offers all you can play for one day a month so we are planning on playing at least 36 holes. Let's hope I stay under 200.

I watched a horse race for the first time in my life today. I had to watch the Belmont Stakes because I heard so much about Big Brown's pursuit of the Triple Crown. Although I can't really call horse racing a sport I do have a new formed respect, that was a pretty intense couple of minutes. I was actually really rooting for Big Brown, I mean everyone wants to witness history, same reason I watch the Mariners. (worst team in the steroid era) I just wish I would have put some money on Da' Tara, 38 to 1 odds, somebody is feeling lucky today. It just sucks that now we have to listen to Sportscenter beat a dead horse, was that to soon, I mean cover this story like it was the only sporting event this year. I'm watching the Miami v. Arizona college baseball game and I think they have interrupted with Belmont highlights at least ten times.

So yesterday I was driving home from school and I witnessed something really funny and really ironic. As I was merging on to 520 it started to back up because there was a stalled car up ahead. Creeping to a stop a looked to my left and I observed one of the most well executed Chinese fire drills in the history of earth, performed by three Chinese people in a Hyundai. (if you don't know what I mean by Chinese fire drill you need to follow the link I set up, check that, go their anyway, it is interesting I promise) I was caught off guard to say the least. I've seen many Chinese fire drills, or at least a few in my day, but never executed by three Chinese people. I didn't know what to do, I actually started looking for a fire, I mean wouldn't a Chinese fire drill performed by Chinese people just be a fire drill? I still haven't figured out what was going on, but either way it was historic. Even though my golf game was weak and Big Brown was a flop, I did have a memorable experience this weekend, thanks China.

Music to my Ears

Not much time today, but did want to share a song that I heard on my Ipod today. I think it tells a great story and has a great message. I put a link to it under "hammer holds" in the links column. It is some random video, but it was the song I was looking for. Let me know what you think or at least, listen.

The Hammer Holds- Bebo Norman

A shapeless piece of steel, that's all I claim to be
This hammer pounds to give me form, this flame, it melts my dreams
I glow with fire and fury, as I'm twisted like a vine
My final shape, my final form I'm sure I'm bound to find

So dream a little, dream for me in hopes that I'll remain
And cry a little, cry for me so I can bear the flames
And hurt a little, hurt for me my future is untold
But my dreams are not the issue here, for they, the hammer holds

And the water, it cools me gray, and the hurt's subdued somehow
I have my shape, this sharpened point, what is my purpose now?
And the question still remains, what am I to be?
Perhaps some perfect piece of art displayed for all to see

So dream a little, dream for me in hopes that I'll remain
And cry a little, cry for me so I can bear the flames
And hurt a little, hurt for me my future is untold
But my dreams are not the issue here, for they, the hammer holds

The hammer pounds again, but flames I do not feel
This force that drives me, helplessly, through flesh, and wood reveals
A burn that burns much deeper, it's more than I can stand
The reason for my life was to take the life of a guiltless man

So dream a little, dream for me in hopes that I'll remain
And cry a little, cry for me so I can bear the pain
And hurt a little, hurt for me, my future is so bold
But my dreams are not the issue here, for they, the hammer holds

This task before me may seem unclear
But it, my maker holds

Lost at Sea

It pains me to admit, but for the sixth year in a row our beloved Seattle Mariners are most likely not going to make the playoffs. Believe me, I haven't forgotten of the "refuse to lose" 1995 season in which we stormed back to force a one game playoff with the then California Angels, but the days of the Kid, the sweet swinging Edgar, and the Big Unit are long gone. No longer is Jay Buhner roaming the turf in the dome. No longer is Bobby Ayala closing games, yes that's right my friends I said it, Bobby Ayala. Nope, today our most exiting player is not a 5 tool power hitting phenom who not only hits homeruns, but takes them away. Our most exiting player is a slap hitting singles hitter who refuses to dive. Hey, I know Ichiro can hit, he has done some amazing things since 2001, but it doesn't matter how many singles you hit when the middle of the order is laced with bats like Jose Vidro, Adrian Beltre, and Richie Sexson. While Beltre's power numbers have increased this year he is still hitting .250 and we all know how Ritchie has been doing. But, what really can you expect from this lineup. You have a revolving door of minor league players in right, a Designated Hitter who has less power than Willie Bloomquist and is an anchor on the bases, and needless to say first base is not giving much offensively. They need offense. Right now it takes three singles to score unless Ibanez hits one off the Hit it Here Cafe once a month. It is just to bad, because we actually have pitching for a change too.

Oh well, another year gone by and all we Mariner fans can do is hope that Griffey comes back giving us something to get excited about. From time to time we can pop in the old VHS "My Oh My" about the 95 season and dream of the days of old. The days when being down 13.5 games to the Angels was the makings of a great story. Oh ya, don't forget to watch that San Fransisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum who was obviously not good enough for a number 5 pick in the draft. Sure he is 7-1 with a 2.23 ERA, but nobody and I mean nobody can close out the 8th inning like Brandon Morrow. Go Mariners!

Let's stay together

Being recently married (Dec.29th) I thought it was unbelievable when I came across the estimated divorce rate in our country: 50%. How can this be? Does marriage even mean anything anymore? What ever happened to "till death d0 us part," and crossing your fingers doesn't count. When I decided that I wanted to marry my wife, I knew that she was the one that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and I couldn't see it any other way. We dated for nearly five years. Come on people, quit rushing into marriage with no idea what you are getting into. Be sure that the one you are marrying is the right one for you and quit being so selfish. You here stories all the time of marriages that suddenly end after numerous years because one of them realized who they really want to be, in other words had a mid life crisis. Wake up. Before you go dying your hair, start wearing teenagers clothes, and frequent various clubs, think about the things that made you get married in the first place before you throw it all away. Put the remote down, quit watching brutal unrealistic shows like Rock of Love, A Shot at Love, and of course the Real World, and take a dose of reality. You made a commitment, one that is supposed to last a life time, so get over yourself and fight to make it last. Don't turn into a statistic.

In the beginning...

I decided to do this blog first of all in attempt to keep up with my trendy friends (and they sure are trendy) and second, because I think it could be fun. I'm not promising anything, if I update this as much as I update my Facebook profile it will probably turn into a monthly news letter, but I will make an effort to be consistent. Besides, I think this could be interesting, i mean it is about time that I start recording the crazy ideas I come up with. I think that some of them are genius and you may too, if you don't you are probably wrong.

What will this blog be about? Pretty much anything that I think is interesting, life, sports, politics, history...all the good stuff. I would be ready for anything, you never know what I might do. Just try and keep up. I'm probably talking to myself anyway, I bet I'll be the only one reading this, but if there is someone out there, anywhere, here's to you.
